THEME UPGRADE: badNas r6, the badest badNas yet!

Not ones to rest on our laurels, we recently saw fit to rebuild our popular badNas RapidWeaver theme from the ground up. badNas now sports width variations, highly advanced color options, new features and a new, optimized structure for faster loading.

Upcoming: new site, upgraded themes and more

It's always a good sign when the seyDesign blog is quiet. It usually means there is something brewing in the dog house, and indeed there is. For starters, let me just say that I am feverishly working on a brand new layout for seyDesign.com. One that is so gorgeous you won't believe your eyes. I would say that I am about 80% of the way there. And that brings me to the other items that have us busy. We can't really have an all new, top-notch, fine looking layout without bringing our themes up to the same calibre. We have been working over the last year to constantly improve our current theme library to be more flexible, more versatile, more stable and more attractive. This has been deliberate. We have known for some time that we want to bring seyDesign to the next level and we intend to do so with improved and upgraded themes to go along with our up coming new site design. One theme in particular has had so much potential since day one and has been very popular, but it's graphical limitations have always bothered us in-house. So we have recently strapped badNas to the operating table and are giving it's vital innards a complete overhaul. I don't want to go into detail, but you can expect to see a lot more flexibility with this RapidWeaver theme in the coming weeks. Also in the mix, we have a number of web site and graphic projects on the go and a custom theme to get done. All this and more is sure to cast this blog into virtual silence for a few more weeks yet. So until then, keep your sniffer clean.

CoverFlow in the spotlight

One of seyDesign's finest, Chris from Varsis Studio, was recently interviewed by Ryan Smith for RapidWeaved.com. Chris gives some insight into the radical new approach to his development of his highly anticipated and very well received RapidWeaver plugin called CoverFlow. If you have been living under a rock for the past month or so and were not aware of this plugin, this interview is a good introduction to both Chris and his incredible plugin. [ read it here ]

Here's what you do:

• Place some nifty code on your site.
• Get some of the traffic on your site to come our way and get 25% of all successful sales!
• You get paid between the 7th and 15th day of the following month.

E-Junkie allows you to keep track of all your important stats and once a month you get paid! It doesn't get any easier than that does it? Didn't think so.

THEME UPDATE: bloop! r5 fixes bugs and looks forward

We've released a new version of our RapidWeaver theme called bloop! that sees a number of fixes and changes. First off we have upgraded this theme to work through the next known version of RapidWeaver (from what we know). Secondly we have addressed a few bugs:

• IE6 now renders 3rd and 4th level sub navigation
• improved rendering of header images so the bottom doesn't get staggered of jagged.
• updated the javascript used to round the header images, sidbar and footer containers

Close to home

Hmmmm... There comes a time in every designers life when he knows his site and design is tired and do for change. Honestly we get bored quickly and time permitting we would probably change our sites daily.

Time isn't really permitting me, but I have concluded that I will go without sleep until easter in order to get seyDesign a fresh skin and I am well on my way. So you can imagine my relief when a colleague of mine who works at PUMP Communications pointed out this little gem of a site to me ↓:


I won't bother to point out the similarities, they are quite apparent on their own. All I can say is I am happy I will be moving on soon. Don't get me wrong, I like the site, and I like my own site, but I am tired of my own and since there are two of us now, I have all the more reason to move on.

THEME UPDATE: 2hadow r6 now works with YouHead plugins!

Thank to the dedication of Isaiah of YourHead Software, I proudly present you 2hadow r6, which now works with all of Isaiah's plugins. That's right, Accordion, Carousel, Kwix, PayLoom... It wouldn't be possible without Isaiah's hard work and endless talent. Download the update here.

YourHead took pity on 2hadow

I just wanted to give a heads up to everyone, that Isaiah, the amazing leader of YourHead Software took it upon himself to resolve some of the issues that our 2hadow r5 was having with his plugins. I am happy to tell you that because of his genious and dedication to RapidWeaver and theme compatibility, there will soon be a 2hadow r6 update that plays nicely with all of Isaiahs plugins. Watch for it early this week.

THEME UPDATE: 2hadow r5 for RapidWeaver 3.6

2hadow is our last theme to make it to the RapidWeaver 3.6 table. All the control you have ever wanted in the original Shadow and 2hadow themes is now a reality. There are no more graphics in the layout so there is a whole lot of opportunity available, like multiple widths, and color background with any page color with any border color... It's really quite liberating.

And, yes, you guessed it, drag n' drop interchangeable header graphics with RWmultitool Lite (free from http://www.rwmultitool.com), split navigation, logo placement and more...

NOTICE: This theme has trouble playing nicely with YourHeads Accordion Plugin (because of the conflict between Mootools and the script used to make this themes rounded corners). If you are an Accordion user, this theme is not for you.
