Ahh the frustration is finally over. I got the Safari 3 beta to finally work for my (thanks to Glenn Thomas) and got updates for all my favorite browser plugins like Safari Tidy. Now is the new Safari faster? Meh... it's really hard to pinpoint a microsecond here or there, but since they tell me it is, my mind at least humors the possibility and convinces me that it is. But all of this faster nonsense aside, where I am really happy about the changes in Safari is it's use of RAM. It seams the days of 256 Mb and 500 Mb RAM sucking are gone! This is great, leaving more RAM for for the other apps that really need the extra like Photoshop on Rosetta! It didn't seem to matter how many tabs I opened or how many windows I would open, the RAM usage never climbed higher than 150 Mb (5 windows open with 10 tabs in each window), but for regular usage, RAM consumptions was steady between 70 Mb and 85 Mb. Kudos to Apple for finally addressing Safari's biggest crutch.
